Clear responsibilities support a trusted journey.

Digital Islamic social finance involves institutional authority, service delivery and operational records. Tulus’s approach keeps those responsibilities explicit within each agreed engagement.

Who is responsible for what

Institutional authority

Participating institutions remain responsible for programme purpose, eligibility, funding decisions, Syariah governance and approval authority. Zakat and waqf requirements are defined by the relevant institution.

Tulus’s role

Tulus provides agreed digital services and operational records within the contracted scope. Service flows are defined around the responsibilities of the participating institution and service partners.

Service partner responsibilities

Payment, banking, integration and programme delivery partners carry out their defined roles under the agreed arrangement. For takaful, the relevant operator governs product terms and Syariah requirements.

Syariah governance

Syariah governance runs through every service on Tulus, and each party is responsible for its own part.

Tulus's own operations

Lariba Consulting, our Syariah adviser, has reviewed the contracts, operations and customer and user terms of the Tulus app and the Tulus payment gateway, and confirmed on 19 August 2026 that both operate in line with Syariah principles. We keep that status under a Syariah Compliance Agreement with Lariba Consulting.

Zakat, waqf and other programmes

Each institution decides the Syariah matters of its own programmes, including zakat and waqf requirements, eligibility and how funds are distributed, under its own Syariah governance. Tulus provides the digital service it has agreed to.

Takaful and partner products

Where a partner offers its own product through Tulus, such as takaful, that operator sets the product terms and is responsible for its Syariah requirements.

Technology and operational priorities

Our platform design direction focuses on financial integrity, information protection and service continuity. These priorities guide discussions on payment records, controlled access, operational monitoring and readiness for seasonal giving demand.

Specific controls and assurance requirements must be reviewed for the relevant deployment.

Reporting with context

Our reporting direction considers participation, programme delivery and outcomes. Meaningful reporting needs clear definitions, time periods, supporting records and an explained measurement method. Public summaries should protect personal information.
